Who are the Master Recyclers?

Master Recyclers are trained in all things waste, recycling, composting and waste reduction. Certified Salt Lake City pros, Master Recyclers join an elite network of residents who are empowered to champion smart recycling practices within their own communities.

Salt Lake City’s Master Recycler Program is free and provides in-depth instruction for residents, including behind-the-scenes trips to the landfill, recycling facilities and more. You can even “tag” along with the SLC education team! Click here to find the Program Schedule.

Your Commitment

Master Recyclers commit to attend a minimum of 6 classes, 2 activities, and 12 volunteer hours to complete their certification.

Why become a Master Recycler?

Salt Lake City’s Master Recycler Program provides in-depth instruction for residents in an effort to promote recycling and improve waste diversion rates. The Master Recycler Course provides the following:

Expert Instruction
Master Recyclers receive expert instruction in solid waste management, recycling, composting, waste diversion, environmental impacts of waste, and effective community outreach and engagement.
On-Site Experience
Master Recyclers will be provided the opportunity to visit many primary solid waste management and waste diversion facilities in the Salt Lake Valley.
Hands-on Learning
Master Recyclers will be in the field with education and outreach experts, seeing first-hand what they do and how they do it.
Certification and Recognition
Upon completion of the program, Master Recyclers will be recognized with a certificate of completion, Contact Cards, Master Recycler T-Shirt, and More!
