Our Volunteer Partnerships
Waste Less Solutions saves good food from ending up in the landfills by engaging local volunteers, called rescuers — they rescue edible food from donors using their own cars and transport it to nonprofit partners who distribute the food to the people who are food-insecure in our Utah communities.
Volunteers use a food rescue app to see what food needs to be rescued, details on pick-up, and where to deliver. With no need for advanced scheduling, a rescuer can typically complete a rescue in 30 minutes. In a short amount of time you have made a difference for the planet and for peoples’ lives!
The Utah Recycling Alliance empowers people, organizations and communities statewide to create a Zero Waste culture by building successful models and encouraging practices that promote reuse, recycling and resource conservation. They have many exciting projects and events year-round, like the Fix-It Clinics, Pop Up! CHaRMs (Collection of Hard to Recycle Materials), education and advocacy campaigns, film screenings, and the Zero Waste Awards. They would love your help with any, or all, of these initiatives. You can join their volunteer list and they will keep you informed of events and suggest ways you can become involved!
Clever Octopus Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering creativity and environmental awareness through art, science, technology, engineering, and math. Their multitentacled approach includes the Clever Octopus Creative Reuse Center and the Octopod mobile outreach vehicle. Their store is filled with reclaimed and reusable materials donated from businesses and individuals in and around the Wasatch Front – materials that would otherwise stay hidden in closets for decades or be sent to landfills.
